Freidl Ardsson/Lrac Nossrep’s Guide to soloing

You’ve tried and tried to find a group, but to no avail. You want that level, but you have no one to group with. Looks like you have to solo. Soloing can be as effective or more effective than grouping depending on several variables such as group number levels, and the mob you are fighting.

Soloing strategy can vary greatly depending on your class and weapon spec, but there are some general rules that everyone should follow.

1) LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!! A good soloing trip depends greatly on where you hunt. A good location gives you room to pull safely, and offers a distance buffer between you and aggro mobs. As well this location should allow you easy access to a multitude of eligible kills. How do you find such a place?

2) Reconnoitre the area. This comes in 2 steps. First ask people you know where you could find a good spot to hunt. Most people are helpful, but you must specify that you are looking for mobs round your level. Once you have travelled to the area, the second stage of this rule comes around. Explore. Although this will take extra time initially, it will save you time in the long run, as you will have found a spot that could potentially gain you a couple levels. Such a spot will follow the specifics of the first rule

3) Ask questions. Ask what a good place is. Ask for info on the place. There is a wealth of knowledge out there so ask your guildies and friends.

4) Consider your kill. This goes beyond the level. Consider where it is. Consider its faction. Consider whether it is vulnerable to whatever damage you are doing, be it hammer, slash or magic types.

Look at that, it spells my name. Imagine that. Must be Hel’s doing. These few things will save your life and get you sweet experience and good loot, and will in general make a better player out of you. It’s no coincidence that those who solo or who have soloed extensively know their class inside and out and are generally better players. So even if experience is better in a group, I suggest that everyone solo a few levels and learn.
