Yggdrasil, the Holy

Welcome to the home of Yggdrasil's Children. Yggdrasil called the World Tree, and for good cause. Midgard is not the only world that rests in Yggdrasil's great many branches, but one of nine. The other worlds are Asgard, world of the Aesir; Ljosalfheimr, world of the Light Alfs; Muspellheimr, world of the Fire Giants; Vanaheimr, world of the Vanir; Mjdgardr, the Middle World (sound familiar?); Jotunheimr, world of the Jotuns; Niflheimr. world of Ice and Mist; Svartalfheimr, world of the Dark Alfs; and lastly, Hel, world of the Dead. These are the names in the ancient language, but the names are very similar to what we call them today.

As you can clearly see, these worlds all share one very important thing with each other: the World Tree. Each of these nine worlds has its own god, and its own peoples, and all of these gods and people call Yggdrasil the Holiest of Holy places. Specifically, the trunk of Yggdrasil, which houses the great golden hall, Valhalla - the Warrior's Rest.

Yggdrasil has only one enemy to name, the evil dragon Niddhogr. This dragon gnaws at the roots of the world tree, in hopes of killing the tree, and in turn destroying all nine worlds and their gods. Although the dragon would die with the nine worlds and Yggdrasil, it gnaws and gnashes at the roots in a furious attempt to destroy all of creation with itself, just to spite the gods and the sow's field from which Yggdrasil sprouted.

Many heros, many peoples, and many gods have fought against the dragon to stop its attack on the tree. None have so far been successful at anything other than delaying the dragon's progress, or speeding their own journey to Valhalla.

And so Yggdrasil gave birth to her Children. She beckons the best of the peoples on her branches to come to her aid, to be her champions. Those that hear her call and come to help are known as Yggdrasil's Children, and are supported by all gods and all races, in hopes that the evil Niddhogr will be slain.

Children of the Tree

Many greetings fellow Midgardian! Have you been summoned by Yggdrasil? Are you here to learn the ways of those who are called to that holy place? If that is the case, you've come to the right place, friend!

Yggdrasil's Children strive to better the realm of Midgard in all possible ways. The most important way a Child can do this, is by serving Yggdrasil directly. Destroying evil, bringing strength and honor to Midgard's gods and peoples, and conquering the savage Hibernian and Albionian races are the most popular ways of doing this. It is of utmost importance to protect the World Tree against those who would bring its destruction, willingly or not.

The Hibernians abuse the life force of Yggdrasil with their heavy magic use. They drain the forces of the World Tree, lazily letting magic do tasks that any Midgardian could do twice as well, three times as fast. They cower behind their magic, sending only a few true warriors to do battle, whilst the rest of the army sucks the ife from Yggdrasil to damage her own people. So war has been declared upon the foolish Hibernians.

The people of Albion have insulted the whole of Midgard's. They have shunned our beliefs, our gods, and our very way of life! They are self-righteous in their religious convictions and call the Norsemen infidels, the Dwarves heathen, the Kobolds pagans, and the Trolls savages. They force their new-found religion upon all those they can, and those they cannot are ruthlessly killed in the name of their single god! As if one god were all they needed! Pray that the Albionian god has plenty of luck on its side, because Odin, Thor, Tyr, Modi and the rest all want a piece of this god for their own mead halls.

Yggdrasil's Children will be on the front lines, singing Midgardian victory songs when these two realms fall to their embarrassment. The Children will be there to accept humble apologies in the name of Yggdrasil, and the Children will battle the Dragon Niddhogr to give the World Tree everlasting peace.

Yggdrasil, Hallowed by the Gods.

Yggdrasil's Twins

Mjolnihr and Magnimar are twin brothers who were raised in the town of Vasudheim, just southwest of Jordheim. Their father was Tempus Stormheart, a famous thane, and the twins were very proud of him. Tempus would be away for long periods, waging war in the frontier lands against the invaders from foreign realms. Whenever he was home, he would teach his boys the ways of Thor, the God of Storms. He named one son after Thor's mighty hammer. His other son Magimar, was named after Thor's own son, meaning first in power.

One day the twins received the news of their father's death in Yggdra Forest. He had been cut down by a band of Elvish rangers on his way back to Midgard. His army had taken too many loses in taking an Albion keep. The twins swore an oath to each other that very day, that they would conquer the realms of Hybernia and Albion.

Eventually, confident in their skills, they ventured forth into Yggdra Forest in search of their enemies. While wandering the frozen hills a strange feeling came over them. A feeling that they were being watched. Not by mortal eyes, but by some greater presence. It was the spirit of Yggdrasil, the World Tree, from which the runes were given to Odin. The twins became aware that the spirit of Yggdrasil was calling to them. They know now that the favor of the gods is upon them and that Hybernia and Albion shall fall to their armies.

May history see their vision as truth.
